Sir Keir Starmer has strongly insisted the Chancellor did not “mislead” the public ahead of the budget amid growing pressure from Scottish MPs.
Rachel Reeves has come under increased scrutiny after she repeatedly warned about a downgrade to the UK’s economy productivity forecasts.
But it has since been revealed that the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) informed the Chancellor in mid-September that the nation’s finances were in better shape than expected.
