When Breaking Bad was first released in 2009, it continued the exciting trend of creating prestige drama and storytelling that wasn't too common in the medium of television, similar to what David Chase had done with The Sopranos. Vince Gilligan's television series about a high school chemistry teacher turned Drug Kingpin was so captivating and well-received that it ended up getting two spinoffs in the form of a prequel/sequel television series as well as a film.
