The National Trust for Scotland has called on the 'home of Scottish football' to be saved from an 'own goal'.
The southside site, on Kingsley Avenue , is where Scottish and International Football played out its formative years and developed into the game we know today. It was home to the Queen's Park club from 1873-1883, and hosted Scottish Cup finals, including the very first final between Queen’s Park and Clydesdale in 1874, and Scotland internationals.
The grounds have been leased by Hampden Bowling Club since 1905 . However, fears have been raised over the site following the news that the club is to be wound up in February next year.
