Police: Woman says someone stole $1,500-plus from her purse while she was grocery shopping

Bloomfield Township police are investigating a reported theft of several hundred dollars from a woman’s purse while she was shopping for groceries.

According to the police department, the woman said she was shopping at Hollywood Market on South Opdyke Road on Nov. 28, and at the checkout counter she noticed her purse was unclasped — and $1,551 in cash was missing.

The woman reportedly told police her purse was on her shoulder the entire time while she was shopping. Nothing else was reported missing from the purse.
