Police are looking for a driver they say left the scene of a fatal crash with a pedestrian near the Cross Bronx Expressway on Sunday evening.
Officers called to the intersection of the Cross Bronx Expressway Service Road and Ellis Avenue in Unionport around 6 p.m. found a man with serious injuries to his head and body, according to the NYPD. First responders took him to Jacobi Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police later determined the man was struck by an SUV driver heading west on the service road. NYPD officials said the man was trying to cross the service road, but they’re still investigating if he was in the crosswalk at the time of the collision.
