Waddington, N.Y. - Troopers got a surprise Sunday when they went to a St. Lawrence County home to notify people that a driver who lived there had died after a crash: They found a man dead inside the home.
State Police were initially called at 7:46 a.m. Sunday to Route 37 in the town of Waddington for a single-car crash, troopers said in a news release.
They found a silver Buick Enclave off the south shoulder of the road. The driver had lost control of the car and struck a fence, they said.
The driver was unresponsive and treated by rescue personnel at the scene, troopers said. The driver later died at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
Troopers responded to the driver’s home, where they found a man dead inside.
