FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The death of an inmate at Salinas Valley State Prison is being investigated as a homicide, allegedly at the hands of a former Valley resident.
The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation says that after 9 pm Saturday, prison staff found Kevin Torres unresponsive in a cell.
The 26-year-old was taken to a hospital, where he died.
The cell where Torres was found was also occupied by 39-year-old Thomas Farias.
He was received from Fresno County back in 2005, to serve a 12-year sentence.
Farias is now in restricted housing amid the investigation for potential murder charges.
