Four people were treated for minor injuries after a two-alarm fire tore through a four-story apartment building in Bay Ridge Sunday evening, fire officials said.
The Fire Department began receiving multiple calls reporting a fire in a basement apartment at 555 Ovington Ave. shortly after 8:30 p.m.
Engine Company 241 and Ladder Company 109 arrived to heavy fire in the basement, with flames extending through walls and void spaces into the first and second floors of the four-story building.
Residents were seen fleeing the building with cats and dogs as temperatures hovered around 35 degrees.
