A woman who was forced to "act like a good housewife should” by her abusive partner, who inflicted years of “fear, stress, and survival” has spoken out.
Nicky Gamble was jailed for 20 months at Durham Crown Court in June after being found guilty of engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour towards his former partner.
The 38-year-old isolated his partner from her friends and family and persuaded her to leave her job, leaving her feeling like a “worthless nobody” in a “constant state of anxiety”.
The court heard Gamble, of The Avenue in Chester-le-Street, carried out a pattern of abusive and intimidating behaviour which caused the woman serious emotional and physical harm.
