LONG COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - The Long County Health Department alerted residents that a raccoon in the area tested positive for rabies.
A dog killed the racoon in a residential community off Rye Patch Road near Ludowici on November 25, the health department said the racoon tested positive for rabies.
Since exposure, the dog got a booster vaccine to protect against rabies infection and the dog’s owner was advised to seek follow-up medical care for any potential rabies exposure.
The Long County Health Department shared a reminder to avoid contact with wild animals and to stay up to date on your pets rabies vaccinations.
