A 58-year-old Walbridge man died after the snowmobile he was driving stuck a utility pole.
Robert A. Bortles, III, was driving a snowmobile in a field in the 5200 block of Latcha Road in Lake Township around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, when he ran into a utility pole, according to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office.
The snowmobile was headed west, on the north side of Latcha, at the time of the accident. Mr. Bortles was taken to Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center, where he later died.
The accident was still under investigation Monday morning.
