Kudos again to the Sunshine Division, founded over a century ago by Portland uniformed and reserve officers. My wife and I again participated by delivering Thanksgiving food packages on Nov. 22. Last year we did so in the neighborhood around Southeast 162 nd Avenue. This year we delivered around Northeast 148th Avenue.
This project of the Sunshine Division is very large. Yet the organization of the package pickup at Portland International Raceway was smooth, and the address cards for the deliveries were prepared well. Last year, Portland’s then-mayor-elect Keith Wilson personally came to our car to thank us. This year, Portland Police Chief Bob Day gave his personal greetings. It was a well-done project.
