Nationwide has issued a major update over record-breaking transcations for customers. Nationwide has released its Black Friday data after the shopping bonanza ahead of Christmas .

By 4pm, Nationwide customers have made over 7.3 million transactions since the beginning of Black Friday. The highest number of transactions recorded per minute was 15,345 and 255 per second.

The number of purchases at 4pm is 9.18% higher than Black Friday 2024, which saw more than the 6.68 million transactions at the same time last year.

The building society, which is the UK's largest, says the sheer scale of transactions was "unexpected."

The bank has branches in Birmingham and is rivalled by NatWest, HSBC UK, Santander, Lloy
