ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The president of St. Louis’ Afghan Chamber of Commerce condemned the shooting of two National Guard members Wednesday and said the incident should not reflect on the entire Afghan community.

Haroon Safi said he was horrified by the shooting. The Department of Homeland Security says the suspect is an Afghan national.

“An individual cannot represent an entire community that was an act of individuals and it shouldn’t be generalized as part of the whole populations,” Safi said. “Afghans are a committed people, we believe in peace.”

The Trump administration has ordered U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to re-examine green cards issued to people from 19 countries of concern, which includes Afghanistan. The agency has also paused immigration application
