A Mayfield man has been charged with assaulting a police officer after they responded to a domestic situation on Sunday morning.

Mayfield Police responded to a call about a domestic incident at about 2:15 a.m. Sunday. While investigating, they detained 21-year-old Anthony Sanchez. Through that investigation and statements from a victim, Sanchez was arrested. At that point, he is said to have become combative with police and resisted.

Sanchez was charged with assault-domestic violence, assault of a police officer, resisting arrest, and alcohol intoxication in a public place.
