Security guard jailed for 13 years after raping student he offered lift

A security guard who pretended to help a student after a night out instead drove her to an isolated area and raped her in the back of his van.

John Callaway had been sitting in his van in Liverpool city centre and targeted her after she became separated from her friends.

The student later said she wished her life had ended during the attack. She was barely conscious while it happened. A judge described Callaway as a very dangerous individual who poses a particular threat to young women who find themselves alone, the Liverpool Echo reported.
