Sisters Frantzia and Pojanee Fleury are being hailed as heroes after they died saving their disabled father from a fire in West Orange on Thanksgiving.

Frantzia was a proud marine who worked as an X-ray technician at a local hospital while Pojanee was the chief executive officer at Brown Eyez Magazine, according to a fundraiser set up to support the family.

"Frantzia...was known for  for her strength, compassion, and unwavering love for her family," Sidney Augustin, who organized the fundraiser wrote. "Pojanee...touched many lives with her talent vision."

Both sisters are survived by their own children, Augustin said. Their father remains hospitalized while their mother is in shock and heartbroken, Augustin wrote.

The fire broke out at 5 p.m. at 600 Mosswood Ave., the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. The sisters were pronounced dead at the scene just before 6:50 p.m., authorities said Their father and six other people inside the home managed to escape, authorities said.

The fundraiser, which is meant for funeral expenses, helping their children and rebuilding their home, has raised $32,000 as of Monday, Dec. 1.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, authorities said. Funeral arrangements have not been publicly announced.
