Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin walks off the field during a college football game between Mississippi State and Ole Miss at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville, Miss., on Friday, Nov. 28, 2025. The Egg Bowl game marks the 122nd meeting between the two teams.

The Lane Train pulled into the station in Baton Rouge, and now, we know exactly what the finances of coach Lane Kiffin's move to LSU will look like.

The former Ole Miss coach left Oxford on Sunday to officially take over the Tigers ahead of the Rebels' College Football Playoff run, and it took a lucrative deal to lure him to an SEC rival. According to a term sheet obtained by Wilson Alexander of The Advocate, LSU is paying Kiffin $91 million over seven years for his new contract.

Kiffin becomes the only coach other than Kirby Smart to make $13 million per year, and his contract features an automatic salary escalator that would make him the highest-paid coach in the country if he wins a national championship with the Tigers.

Per Alexander, the contract also features a bit of a bizarre clause in which LSU will honor Kiffin's postseason bonuses from Ole Miss, so he could make an extra $1 million if the Rebels win a national title.

If LSU were to fire Kiffin, it would owe him 80% of the remaining money on his contract. Per Alexander, Kiffin's contract doesn't feature any mitigation or offset clauses should he subsequently get another job.
