The stakes are rising on Strictly Come Dancing as the remaining contestants on the BBC programme set their sights on the coveted Glitterball trophy with the final drawing nearer.

However, one celebrity who has missed out on the opportunity to become a Strictly champion is Alex Kingston, who departed the competition on Sunday evening.

The actress landed at the bottom of the leaderboard following several errors during her performance, which resulted in Alex facing the dance-off against EastEnders star Balvinder Sopal.
