A woman was struck and fatally injured in the area of Route 291 and Lamokin Street, and Chester police are urging anyone with information to help the hit-and-run investigation.

The woman, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, died Saturday night at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center at 10:20 shortly after arrival, city police said.

Chester officers were dispatched shortly after 9:30 p.m. for the report of a pedestrian struck, an unresponsive female in the roadway and no striking vehicle at the scene. VMSC medics responded to the scene and transported the victim.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the victim had been struck by a vehicle while crossing Route 291. The striking vehicle fled the scene. However, it has since been locat
