Police in Waterbury are investigating two separate shootings that sent two men to the hospital with multiple bullet wounds over the Thanksgiving weekend.

Both victims are from Waterbury. Both survived. Detectives are urging the public for help in finding who fired the shots.

The first shooting was reported around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, when a 37-year-old man admitted himself to an area hospital with gunshot wounds to his shoulder and a second bullet that grazed his head, authorities said. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the attack.

Investigators said an argument between him and another man on Walnut Street near Ives Street sparked the shooting.

The second shooting was reported around 1:45 a.m. Sunday, when Waterbury police officers heard gunshots in the area of Grand Street.

Officers said an "isolated incident" between two groups of people escalated into gunfire. A 39-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his arm and abdomen. Doctors told police the man is expected to survive, authorities said.

Both victims were in stable condition as of Monday, police said.
