SNOW HILL, N.C. (WITN) - An Eastern Carolina congressman says he’ll move into the new First District and seek a third term in Congress.
Rep. Don Davis announced this afternoon that he will file for re-election and run in the First District.
Davis, a Democrat, lives in Snow Hill, but this summer the Republican-controlled state legislature redrew his district, moving his home into the Third District and making the district easier for a Republican to win.
Although state law doesn’t require a congressional candidate to reside in their district, Davis says he plans to live in his new congressional district.
“Rigging the system to favor any political party is always wrong,” said Davis in a statement today. “The North Carolina General Assembly has redrawn the map at the White House’s request
