In an article about the tragic and accidental death of Violet Gustafson and the efforts of the citizens of North Ridgeville to make the intersection where Violet died safer for pedestrians, the Plain Dealer wrote:
“Residents via social media have asked for a purple crosswalk to be constructed. Purple is the North Ridgeville High School athletic teams’ color.”
The colors of the North Ridgeville Rangers, the school districts athletic teams, are in fact navy blue and yellow.
“Violet” -- the name of the young lady whom the story was about -- is also a shade of purple.
Do better, Plain Dealer. Do better.
