A cannabis farm where thousands of plants were being grown has been discovered in Tameside . Police raided a premises on Ash Road in Droylsden at 7am today (Monday, December 1).

Beforehand they embarked on 'extensive intelligence gathering' including thermal imaging footage from a police drone. Inside, they found thousands of cannabis plants, with an estimated street value of more than £2 million.

The electricity supply had been 'bypassed' as part of the 'sophisticated' setup, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.

Six men and a woman - aged between 21 and 44 - have all been arrested on suspicion of the cultivation of cannabis. They remain in custody for questioning. View 3 Images
