TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV/Gray Florida Capital Bureau) - Florida’s largest teacher association is accusing the state of overstepping its authority over a new rule requiring university professors to submit syllabi weeks before the semester begins.
The Florida Education Association filed a petition challenging the Department of Education’s rule change on how college professors prepare for the semester. During last month’s meeting, the Board of Education changed an administrative rule requiring university professors to turn in a final syllabus 45 days before classes start for public review.
The idea is to increase transparency.
