JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Candlelight filled the front of Animal Care and Protective Services in Riverside tonight as the agency held a vigil for Miracle.
The three-year-old Great Dane passed away after he was rescued earlier this month while suffering from severe starvation and dehydration.
"It's amazing to see the community show up for a dog that they've never met before," said Animal Care Officer Stratton during the vigil.
Stratton was assigned to a case a few weeks ago - a case that wound up plucking at her heart strings.
"I was here when he came in, I was here when he passed," said Stratton. "It's been a very caught up case for me. It's been very personal."
