Karen Read’s civil lawsuit has been moved from state court to federal court following a request by the attorney representing key witnesses at her murder trials who she has accused of framing her in the death of her boyfriend, Boston police officer John O’Keefe, according to court filings.

The lawsuit, which accuses State Police and witnesses of framing her for O’Keefe’s death in January 2022, was originally filed last week in Bristol Superior Court but was removed Tuesday and reassigned to the U.S. District Court of Massachusetts in Boston, according to the superior court docket.

Read’s case will be heard by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Denise J. Casper, who sentenced Boston mobster James “Whitey” Bulger, according to court filings.
