A North Adams man accused of killing his parents by beating them and setting their house on fire said he did it because he was “frustrated” by his mother’s health issues and “snapped,” according to court records.
According to a police report, Darius Hazard, 44, was “really furious at his parents” because his mother had difficulty walking and needed assistance getting around the house. He lit the fire because he “hated the house,” the report said.
Hazard allegedly confessed to police that he assaulted his mother and father inside their home and set the house ablaze sometime between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Tuesday, Berkshire District Attorney Timothy J. Shugrue’s office said in a statement.
