ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) - South Bend Common Councilmember Sharon McBride will not be charged in connection with an investigation into the center she once led, according to a special prosecutor’s report obtained by WNDU 16 News Now.

Special Prosecutor Chris Gaal declined to file criminal charges against McBride, who was director of the DuComb Center, a county-run work release facility.

County commissioners launched an investigation into McBride last year in response to what they called “a myriad of concerning allegations,” ranging from ghost employment and staffing issues to overtime abuse.

Gaal cited possible missing hours and questionable pay discovered during the investigation, both in the thousands. Despite these findings, he declined to file charges.
