GREENSBORO, N.C. — The final order of abatement was signed Monday, closing the Howard Johnson hotel at 2004 Veasley St. in Greensboro after a judge ordered them to stop taking new guests or tenants because it has been declared a public nuisance.
The City of Greensboro filed the case on behalf of the state, saying the hotel, owned by Classio Hospitality LLC, has been involved in serious criminal activity, including drug trafficking, prostitution, and violence.
State law allows authorities to take action against properties that create ongoing dangers to the community.
Guilford County Superior Court Judge Stephanie Reese issued the order in a civil nuisance case brought by the City of Greensboro on behalf of the state.
