HILO, Hawaii (Island News) -- An early-morning fire at the old Pueo Poi Factory in Hilo killed two people on Saturday.

The Hawaii Fire Department (HFD) received a call about the fire at the building of the former Pueo Poi Factory just before 4 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29. Within minutes, firefighters arrived at the scene on Kekuanaoa Street where they found a two-story building engulfed in flames. The fire took over 60% of the building as flames were seen from all four sides, according to HFD.

Multiple firefighting units battled the blaze and once the fire was under control, firefighters searched the building where they found two dead bodies. Each body was found at a different part of the building and removed from the area.
