CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — A recent lawsuit was filed following the death of a man while in custody at the Al Cannon Detention Center.

Lorenza Trapp, a 62-year-old man of Charleston, died of severe dehydration in the setting of Schizoaffective disorder.

The lawsuit claims Trapp faced two weeks of medical neglect before he was found dead. Documents claim his body was found in a state that showed he had been dead for a significant amount of time before discovery.

The first details on how 62-year-old Lorenza Trapp died were released back in March.

Documents detail that Trapp suffered from severe mental illness, including schizoaffective disorder and advanced dementia.
