In 2018, Meghann O’Brien began exploring how digital technologies can inform and reframe traditional weaving practices. Everyone Says I Look Like My Mother, her new exhibit at the Museum of Anthropology, brings together some of those more experimental pieces with her early work — begun after she gave up competitive snowboarding.

“I stepped away from professional snowboarding in 2010, and that was the year I received a Canada Arts Council grant to work with mountain goat wool as a material and to relearn the ancestral spinning techniques for ceremonial regalia weaving,”
