SAN JOSE, Calif. (KRON) -- A fiery four-vehicle crash on northbound Highway 87 in San Jose Tuesday morning killed two people and injured two others, according to the California Highway Patrol. One of the victims killed in the collision was a child.
All northbound lanes were shut down for several hours following the crash. However, as of 3:43 p.m., all lanes had reopened.
The San Jose Fire Department responded to the crash just north of Curtner Avenue at around 10:50 a.m. Two of the involved vehicles were Teslas that burst into flames, according to CHP. A Lexus also caught on fire.
The other vehicle involved was a Toyota Sienna. CHP described the vehicles' damage as "fully engulfed."
