A day before the early signing period for football begins on Dec. 3, Arizona State received a commitment from the No. 1 community college prospect in the country, Jarmaine Mitchell, a 6-foot-8, 310-pound lineman out of Copiah-Lincoln in Wesson, Mississippi.
With the Sun Devils losing as many as five players who accounted for most of the offensive line's playing time, it is a needed boost.
Mitchell, who flipped from Georgia to ASU on Oct. 31, visited ASU for the Territorial Cup game. He had 14 other offers, including LSU, Arkansas, Georgia and Mississippi State. Colorado was the only other Big 12 offer.
