LAKEWOOD, Ohio -- City Councilwoman Cindy Marx will resign from her Ward 4 seat at the end of the year.
Marx, who has spent seven years on council over two separate stints, submitted a resignation letter on Monday announcing she will step down effective Dec. 31, 2025.
The letter said that she is getting married and planning to move to Shaker Heights. She will therefore no longer meet the residency requirement to serve on council.
“While I am excited for this next chapter personally, it is with genuine regret that I step down before the end of my term,” Marx wrote to the council president and members.
Marx described the decision as difficult and called serving Lakewood residents “one of the most meaningful experiences of my public life.”
