TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - As shoppers prepared for Cyber Monday deals, law enforcement officials warned that thieves are also preparing to steal packages from doorsteps across the region.
The United States Postal Service reports thieves stole 58 million packages last year, costing Americans $16 billion.
“Thieves know the days that people are going to be shopping, getting deliveries, so they do look for those things and they’re well aware that delivery trucks are going in neighborhoods,” said Ashley Alvarez of the Marana Police Department. “They might try to follow those trucks and see where they end up.”
The Marana Police Department said leaving packages in the open attracts thieves to doorsteps. Even homes with security cameras can become targets, and packages can disappear quick
