In response to national grocery retailer Kroger Co. announcing plans last month to close its eCommerce fulfillment center in Groveland, the Lake County Board of County Commissioners will terminate its multi-year incentive grant and impact fee waiver agreement with Kroger.
By unanimous vote, commissioners approved the termination agreement on Tuesday and authorized the county attorney to send a termination letter to Kroger immediately ending payments for the 2025 tax year and seeking to recover a combined $1.3 million already paid to the grocer.
Kroger announced on Nov. 18 that it would be closing its Groveland fulfillment center, leading to the loss of about 1,400 Florida jobs by February 1 as the company modifies its grocery delivery app
