LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel is calling on utility companies across the state to include public input in their proposed data center projects, as communities rush to approve new facilities.

Nessel said she wants to prevent data center deals from being made in the dark, with multiple Michigan cities and townships entering the data center game.

Several major decisions are on the horizon that could advance two projects, including one in Lansing. The city planning commission is expected to meet on Tuesday, Dec. 2 to make a zoning decision for the proposed center on the city’s south side.

In the last year alone, proposals for data centers have popped up in Howell and Saline townships, along with Lansing’s project introduced by UK company Deep Green.
