CNN anchor Jake Tapper sarcastically mimicked President Donald Trump during Tuesday's broadcast of his show "The Lead" by appearing to fall asleep during the beginning of one of the segments.

Earlier in the day, Trump appeared to nod off during a cabinet meeting held at the White House. The 79-year-old president has been seen falling asleep during other events, which has raised questions about his health and fitness for the job.

Tapper played a video of Trump with his eyes closed during the meeting.

"The White House says what you're seeing here is the president listening attentively, and running the entire marathon three-hour Cabinet meeting," Tapper said, reading a statement CNN obtained from the White House about the footage.

"If he was falling asleep, maybe he was a bit tired from all the time online last night, where he was re-Truthing quite a bit between 7:20 p.m. and midnight," he added. "158 posts and reposts, to be exact."

As Tapper brought the discussion to the panel, Tapper claimed Trump "looked a little tired" during the meeting. GOP strategist Mike Dubke repeated the White House's assertion that the president was just "listening intently."

In response, Tapper mimicked what Trump looked like in the meeting. He closed his eyes, leaned back in his chair, and stayed silent for a few moments.

"Does that look like listening intently to you?" Tapper asked Dubke.
