FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Whether it’s a house fire or bad weather destroying your home, the stress of figuring out what to do next can be overwhelming.

Last year alone, Indiana Red Cross teams responded to more than 200 emergencies in northeast Indiana, most of which were house fires.

Red Cross disaster volunteers make it their mission to help people through that stress.

“When you see somebody on the worst day of their life, and they’re crying with gratitude, it just does good for your heart.” Elizabeth Craft.

Both Elizabeth Craft and Nancy Clarke are part of the Red Cross disaster action team.

Craft began volunteering just two years ago, shortly after retiring.
