Cal Poly San Luis Obispo architecture students will share practical, research-based ideas for rebuilding the Altadena community Saturday, Dec. 6.

The free event, dubbed “Altadena Fire Recovery: Rebuilding a Neighborhood,” takes place in the alley next to Altadena Hardware, at the corner of E. Mariposa Street and El Molino Avenue, west of Lake Avenue, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Topics include community-focused design, defensible space and economic models to help people make informed decisions about their rebuilding options. A group of 19 students from Cal Poly’s College of Architecture and Environmental Design, who collaborated with the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) Fire Institute, will be on hand to present the findings.
