NORFOLK, Va. — A Norfolk nonprofit is working to fill a gap for many families: care for loved ones with dementia during the evening hours, when symptoms may intensify, and support is hardest to find.
This summer, Silver Care Dementia Center launched Lashley Village: an evening respite program designed for people living with memory loss.
Dr. Erica Jones and her husband, Dr. Lawrence Jones, run Silver Care. They said the goal of the program is to provide a safe, structured environment at night so caregivers can take care of themselves. Some people say it's the only window of time they can step away.
