The city of Chicago has now topped New York as the most congested city in America and has some of the worst traffic congestion in the world.
According to the new Inrix Scorecard released this week, Chicago drivers lost 112 hours in traffic over the last year, nearly five full days. That lost time in traffic cost drivers more than $2,000 per year, according to the scorecard.
In previous years, Chicago had trailed New York in the rankings, but surpassed the Big Apple in the newest rankings, with their lost-time increasing by 10 hours according to the publication.
According to Inrix, Chicago trails Istanbul and Mexico City on the worldwide ranking, with New York and Philadelphia rounding out the top-five.
