The Emergency Family Assistance Association, a Boulder nonprofit, has received $5 million to take its housing program to the next level.

The grant was awarded by the Day 1 Families Fund, which is administered by Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos. EFAA was one of 32 organizations around the United States to receive funding and was the only recipient from Colorado this year.

The annual grant is given specifically to programs that help unhoused families move toward permanent housing. EFAA will put the $5 million into its housing program, which provides a place to live for families with children under 18.

Debbie Pope, executive director of EFAA, said the grant will benefit families that are currently unhoused and also ensure that more local families can access stable housing.
