JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The City of Jacksonville’s Special Committee on Duval DOGE and Council Auditor addressed letters sent by the mayor’s office regarding a 2% budget lapse. The city’s finance committee approved the 2% lapse in this year's budget back in August.
Council Auditor Kim Taylor explained the lapse is essentially a reduction in each department or organization’s appropriated funds within the city’s overall budget. The plan was for the DOGE committee to evaluate whether each entity needs that 2% of its budgeted funds. If so, legislation would be drafted for the entire city council to vote on and restore the funding.
