CLEVELAND — The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority says it will discontinue free Wi-Fi service on all buses, trolleys and trains starting Dec. 19 as part of ongoing cost-cutting measures.
The transit agency announced the change Tuesday, citing budget constraints for 2025 and 2026. A spokesperson told Rich Exner of 3News media partner Cleveland.com that the Wi-Fi service costs about $250,000 a year.
Free Wi-Fi will remain available at these GCRTA facilities:
Tower City Station
Cedar University Station
East 55th Street Station
Louis Stokes/Windermere Station
East 79th Street Station
Stephanie Tubbs Jones Transit Center
Service at those locations will continue 24 hours a day.
