BRIMFIELD ( 25News Now ) - With tariffs raising prices for artificial Christmas trees, some Central Illinois tree farmers hope more families are looking for the real deal.
Cinnamon Tree Farm in Brimfield has been busy this season, with owner Rod Stahl reporting larger than usual crowds after Thanksgiving weekend.
Stahl added it’s tough to know exactly how much tariffs are driving people to real trees, but he has noticed a steady shift toward buying local and choosing trees that are recyclable.
“We’ve certainly felt support from our community to buy local. I do think that there’s been a trend toward real trees and supporting the local community and economy, but higher tariffs this year could be playing into it a little bit,” said Stahl.
