PEORIA HEIGHTS ( 25News Now ) - The Peoria Heights Village Board has given early approval for a major redesign of Prospect Road.
The plan would narrow driving lanes, improve sidewalks for ADA compliance, and replace aging underground infrastructure.
The project would also stretch from Prospect Road through the village from War Memorial Drive to Tower Park.
The mayor said taxpayers will not see a tax increase to help fund the project.
“I can guarantee you there will be no raising of the taxes for the Prospect Road,” Mayor Matt Wigginton said. “There are a lot of things that need to fall into place, admittedly. But that congressional, as well as the state-directed funding, is going to be imperative for this project to move forward.”
