HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Auto mechanics in Hastings say drivers should warm up their vehicles before driving in extreme cold weather to prevent engine damage.
Andy Huffaker of Eldon’s Automotive said the warm-up period helps protect engines from premature wear. He and other Hastings residents said they prefer warming their cars for comfort.
“Generally, a rule of thumb is you should let your car warm up for about 5 to 10 minutes,” Huffaker said.
Steve Connot, owner of Connot Automotive, who has more than 25 years of experience, agreed that warming a vehicle before use is important during certain weather conditions.
